Hi, I'm Xin. I'm a Technical Program Manager with about 10 years of experience at Alibaba, and I'm currently working as a senior engineer at a Canadian real estate tech company.
At Alibaba, I spent most of my career at the intersection of business strategy and engineering execution. The most defining experience was probably being the chief PMO for the 2018 11.11 Global Shopping Festival — that's Alibaba's biggest annual event, about $30 billion in GMV in a single day. I coordinated 109 projects across 430 engineers to deliver that with zero critical failures during peak traffic of half a million orders per second. That taught me how to build program management frameworks that work at extreme scale under extreme pressure.
Before that, I led a performance optimization program for the Taobao mobile app — 400 million daily active users. We brought the startup time down from 16 seconds to 5.4 seconds by coordinating 26 engineering teams. The interesting part wasn't the technical fix — it was designing the decision framework to resolve conflicts between performance goals and business teams who each wanted their features to load first.
More recently, I built and led a PMO team from scratch for Alibaba's home furnishing business — managing a 200-person engineering org across multiple product lines and 4 portfolio companies. That's where I did everything from post-acquisition integration of a former Autodesk team, to setting up DORA metrics and value delivery frameworks, to supporting fundraising with board-level strategic reporting.
What brings me here is that I want to apply this experience at a company where program management is a core discipline, not an afterthought. Amazon's approach to mechanisms and working backwards really resonates with how I think about building lasting systems rather than firefighting.
